This new office comedy drew its humor from the reality of the soul-crushing office setting. Yet despite taking place in this cold, personality-free office surrounded by within mile-high stacks of black banker boxes, the play needed a certain buoyancy and warmth to give the audience permission to laugh. Between the fluorescent lights blaring down onto the action and the warm pop of the actors faces, the lighting design walked this line with gentle cueing that directed focus and emphasized subtle shifts in emotional beats.
